What is MTN Profile?
MTN Profile is the easiest way to share your backcountry credentials and experience with potential partners, helping you avoid awkward trailhead conversations.
Is MTN Profile free?
Yes. Creating and sharing your backcountry profile is completely free.
Is my data private?
Everything you add to your public profile is visible to anyone who visits it while it's published. Your email and phone number are the exception and are never displayed on your profile. However, other users can choose to share their email and phone with you using the Share Contact Info feature, and you can do the same. This sharing is person-to-person and occurs over email. You can disable incoming contact shares in your settings, and you can unpublish your profile from the dashboard or delete your account at any time.
Is profile information verified for accuracy?
No. Profile information is self-reported by each user and is not independently verified. While most people provide honest information, it’s important to remember that the platform does not confirm certifications, skills, avalanche education, or backcountry history.
How do I create a profile?
Sign up with your email, then walk through our guided wizard. You’ll fill in your backcountry experience, activity types, certifications, and touring preferences. You can save and return at any time.
Can I edit my profile later?
Your profile is a living document. Click the EDIT PROFILE button at any time as you gain new experience, earn certifications, or change your touring preferences and goals.
How do I change my primary profile?
If you have more than one activity profile, go to Settings and use the Primary profile selector in the Preferences section. That controls which profile people see first when they visit your main profile URL. If you only have one activity profile, there isn’t anything to switch yet.
Why is my username locked?
The intent is for your profile link to be permanent. Changing your username would break any previous links to it. That said, if you've made an obvious mistake, like misspelling your name, and you’re okay with breaking the existing link, let us know and we'll help you out.
Can I request that more certifications, skills, or gear be added to the list?
Of course. Let us know what you want to see added.
What activities are supported?
Skiing, splitboarding, hiking, and trail running for now. It's mostly geared towards skiing and splitboarding at the moment, but we'd love feedback on how to make it better for other activities.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the settings panel, or contact us using the email address associated with your account, and we’ll take care of it. All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
