AGREEMENT

By using MTN Profile (“the platform”), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform. We may update these terms from time to time — we'll let you know when we do.

WHAT MTN PROFILE IS

MTN Profile is a credentialing and partner-matching platform for backcountry recreationists. It lets you build a profile of your skills, experience, and certifications, and connect with others for backcountry activities.

YOUR ACCOUNT

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information about your skills, experience, and certifications
• Keep your login credentials secure
• Keep your profile information current
• Be at least 18 years old

You're responsible for all activity on your account. If you think someone else has accessed it, contact us immediately.

PROFILE ACCURACY

Honest representation is fundamental to this platform. Your profile is used by others to make safety-critical decisions about backcountry partnerships. Misrepresenting your skills, experience, or certifications puts others at risk and is grounds for immediate account removal.

ACCEPTABLE USE

Use the platform respectfully and lawfully. Don't:

• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Post false, misleading, or deceptive content
• Use the platform for commercial solicitation or spam
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or private data
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect data from the platform
• Use the platform for anything illegal

YOUR CONTENT

You own the content you post to your profile. By posting it, you give us permission to display it on the platform and use it to provide our services (like partner matching). You can remove your content at any time by editing your profile or deleting your account.

BACKCOUNTRY RISK DISCLAIMER

This is important, so we'll be direct:

Backcountry recreation — including skiing, climbing, mountaineering, and similar activities — carries inherent risks, including serious injury and death. MTN Profile is a tool for finding and evaluating potential partners. It is not a guarantee of anyone's competence, judgment, or safety.

Specifically:

• We do not independently verify user-reported information, including certifications, skills, avalanche education, or backcountry history
• A profile is not a certification of competence
• You are solely responsible for your own safety decisions in the backcountry
• You are solely responsible for vetting any partner you meet through this platform

By using MTN Profile, you acknowledge that you understand and accept the risks of backcountry activities and that the platform is not liable for outcomes of any trips or partnerships formed here.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

MTN Profile is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it reliable and useful, but we can't guarantee the platform will always be available or error-free. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

TERMINATION

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly for profile misrepresentation or behavior that endangers other users. If we terminate your account, we'll tell you why unless we're legally prevented from doing so.

CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you by email or through a notice on the site at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that point means you accept the updated terms.

GOVERNING LAW

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
